*CLOSED* falalalafabric giveaway: Indigo Icicles FQ Stack from Alewives!

UPDATED: THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED! THANKS EVERYONE FOR ENTERING!!!

Our winner is Megan who said: "I'm looking forward to going to NYC to my sister and her family for Christmas (and getting to see all the amazing lights in Manhattan)!"

Look for my email Megan! Congratulations!!!

Today you are the Luckiest of Readers because Alewives Fabrics is giving away a stack of TEN gorgeous fat quarters! WOOT! Keep reading for more details...

Last summer at Weekend Sewing in Vermont we had a wonderful cocktail hour with wine and cheese on the most lovely grassy knoll overlooking the mountains. Heather had set up the Orla Kiely teepee and everyone sat and talked and took in the view. I still remember meeting Rhea of Alewives Fabrics; she had her adorable fiance Oliver in tow and they had driven down from Maine to hang out for the evening. She was also wearing this amazing tunic she had made from the Anna Maria Horner Museum Tunic tutorial and that gorgeous paneled voile and I remember thinking it looked even better in person than it did online. In addition to having mad style and good taste in fabrics, Rhea is one of the nicest people you can imagine and I was lucky enough to sit across from them later at dinner and hear about the store and their wedding plans, although I'm pretty sure I mostly just yammered her ear off. Actually, come to think of it, Heather was sitting with us too and did quite a bit of yammering herself. It was great! So I'm especially pleased today to be able to introduce you to Rhea and Alewives Fabrics, her lovely fabric shop in Maine and on the web.

A BIT ABOUT ALEWIVES
Alewives Fabrics has been in business for 35 years, but for the past 6 years has been owned by Barbara Neeson and her daughter Rhea Butler. Barbara is a former high school art teacher and Rhea is a former graphic designer.  The fabrics in their shop reflect both their ages and attitudes! You can read more about the shop and its history here.

Alewive's website is filled with warm colors and lots of deliciously yummy pictures of fabric, it's sure to become a place you love to go and hang out and "practice filling your cart" like I do. In addition to fabric they carry patterns and books and yarns (Amy Butler yarns, YUM!) and a whole slew of other stuff, so it's sure to keep you occupied for a good long time. Here are some of my favorites at Alewives right now:

and my favorite Hope Valley print from Denyse Schmidt

GIVEAWAY DETAILS
So today Alewives Fabrics is pleased to be giving away an "Indigo Icicles" fat quarter set, which was pulled together specially for Made by Rae's readers!  The set contains 10 different fat quarters in cool shades of lavender, icy blue, royal purple, turquoise, and of course indigo blue.  The fabrics included in this bundle were designed by the likes of Amy Butler, William Morris, Denyse Schmidt, Anna Maria Horner and Liberty of London. All of the fat quarters are 100% cotton in quilting weight and would be perfect for any patchwork projects.  The giveaway includes shipping and can be shipped internationally.

Here's another peek at the fabrics on the bolt:

*CLOSED* falalalafabric: Far Far Away II giveaway from Whipstitch!

*UPDATED: THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED! THANKS FOR ENTERING*
 Our winner is:
 Leslie said...
I've been reading since shortly before the first Celebrate Boy month. I love LOVE your big butt baby pants pattern. I've made 5 pairs for my baby girl- and I haven't taken a picture of any of them (ack!). I've added ruffles to the butt, to the legs, I've add lace- you name it. Thank you for that pattern, sure took the guesswork out of figuring out the dimensions myself. And they look super cute underneath the "Raglan Shift Dress" if you cut it shorter like a tunic- another super easy pattern made by whole grain baby. In under two hours I can make my daughter a super cute outfit. Woohoo! And i think you are funny too! Congratulations Leslie, look for my email so we can get you your fabrics!

You're not even going to believe this. It's ANOTHER fantastic fabric giveaway, this time from Whipstitch Fabrics!

Today you are the Luckiest of Readers because Whipstitch Fabrics is giving away Far Far Away II! Woot!

Let me introduce you to Whipstitch owner Deborah Moebes. Deborah not only runs the Whipstitch online fabric shop, she is the author of the fabulous new book Stitch by Stitch (you can see my interview with Deborah for the book tour here), owner of Whipstitch Sewing Lounge in Atlanta (where she also teaches sewing classes), instructor of her online sewing eCourses, and blogger over at the ever entertaining and informative Whipstitch blog. She's also a wife and mother of four children. Deborah's one of those people who is just hands-down amazing; just looking at everything she has going on makes me want to lie down and take a nap, but she manages to do it all and still be energetic and hilarious.

I have to admit always get a little bit jealous when I read Deborah's blog. It makes me want to move to Atlanta so I can go to all the fun stuff she's got going on like the Whipstitch Retreat, the Sew-A-Thon or Fabric Design Weekend! It would be great just to shop for fabric or sew in this fantastic space:

Even if you can't move to Atlanta, there's always the online shop and Whipstitch eCourses. New classes for 2011 have yet to be announced, but I have it on good authority that Deborah will be offering a new "Intro to Sewing" class based on her book in late January, so if you've always wanted to learn to sew you have NO EXCUSE because you could be taught by one of the best sewing teachers in the country who is also one of the funniest nicest people ever.

GIVEAWAY DETAILS

Today Deborah is giving away 10 fat quarters of Far Far Away II + shipping! The winner may choose ten fabulous fat quarters from the Far Far Away II collection in the shop. This collection is designed by Heather Ross and is printed on a lightweight cotton-linen canvas (heavier than quilting cotton but turns amazingly soft when you wash it). With this stack of FQ's you could even make the Storytime Squares Quilt I posted last week with a couple to spare!

I don't have this one yet but I really really like it. Alot.

*CLOSED* fafalalalafabric giveaway: Yuwa from Aunt Bea!!!

*THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED! THANKS FOR ENTERING!!!*

Our winner is Shelley, who said... "I'm drawn to soooo many prints, but right now I especially love anything with a vintage look! Thanks for the giveaway!!"
Congratulations Shelley and thanks for entering! Look for an email from me in your inbox right away.

Hold onto your coffee cups, here comes another fantastic fabric giveaway from Aunt Bea's Fabric!

Today you are the Luckiest of Readers because Bea is giving away 2 yards of Yuwa fabric, a lovely line of Japanese imports with the most charming prints! Let me introduce you to this lovely shop.

Aunt Bea's Fabric is an online fabric store (www.auntbeasfabric.com) located in Portland OR focusing on Japanese and user friendly apparel fabrics (denim, knits, linen, lawn, and double gauze, oh my!). The shop was founded in 2005 when Bea's fabric stash outgrew her sewing room (it could happen to you!) Maya is the co-owner and loves that checking sewing blogs like Made by Rae is part of her JOB... Awesome!

I personally love Bea and Maya's taste for fun and beautiful prints, like this gorgeous Alexander Henry floral lawn:

This floral cotton print (Dena Designs for Free Spirit) would be perfect for a girl's top or dress:

And just I love the little apples in this Hokkoh Forest print:

And check out these lovely fabrics from Yuwa! Here's a peak at just a few of the lovely fabrics you could choose from if you win this giveaway:

What a fun selection! Yuwa Japanese fabrics are so lovely. Not only are there gorgeous graphic Kei dots to choose from, there are some fabrics that would look amazing made into shirts or skirts (hello clock print skirt!) and some super cute kitchen novelty prints as well. I'm dying over those little thimbles and scissors in the antique sewing prints. You can look at all of the Yuwa fabrics over at Aunt Bea's to see even more. So exciting!

GIVEAWAY DETAILS
Aunt Bea's Fabrics is giving away 2 yards of Yuwa fabric + free shipping (worldwide!), with a 1/2 yard minimum per cut (so: four 1/2 yards, two single yards, OR one 2-yard cut of fabric) to the winner of this giveaway. The winner may pick any print(s) from the Yuwa category on their website.

*CLOSED* falalalafabric: Circa 50 Giveaway from Fabricworm!

UPDATED: Thanks for such a great response! I'm closing this giveaway now, so stay tuned for the next one!

ACK I am so excited! Since fabric is my most very best favorite thing in the whole wide world (*ahem*...besides my adorable children and handsome Mr Rae...*ahem*), I've decided to do a series of fabric giveaways for the month of December and a few of my favorite fabric shops will be here giving away some very. awesome. stuff to you guys, my readers! Hooray!!!

I am not usually the most organized or focused of people (heck I've been up five times since beginning this post for coffee and chocolate covered pretzels. OK FINE and some Candy Cane JoJos if you really must know) but I promise you I will get as many of these giveaways posted as possible before the month is up and I get distracted by something else (like Celebrate the Boy).

Today you are the Luckiest of Readers because Cynthia of Fabricworm is giving away 2 yards of fabric from the organic Circa 50 line! Woot! For those of you who don't already know, Fabricworm carries an amazingly comprehensive selection of modern prints and japanese imports. I remember last year when I first saw that cute little felt inchworm crawling it's way across a bolt of fabric. I just knew that woman had good taste. It turned out that Cynthia is also a mother to two boys and many of her fabrics and combination quilt bundles are boy-friendly, something which I have always appreciated as a mother of a boy. The other thing that has always impressed me about Cynthia is that she is so friendly and sweet and her customer service is fantastic.

Here are some of my favorite fabrics at Fabricworm right now. I'm such a sucker for elephants so if I had a baby boy right now (gah! there's absolutely NO news or even thoughts of news, I swear!!!) I would do the entire nursery based on this print:
Cloud 9 my happy nursery
Wouldn't this orange be perfect for trimming a boy's shirt?
Patty Young Zen Garden Sherbet
And this is my absolute favorite of the Far Far Away II line so I just have to include it:
Far Far Away II Heather Ross green rapunzel
And I la-la-love this print from Anna Maria Horner.  I think this needs to become a shirt for Mr Rae:
Innocent Crush Bubble Burst Rich
I could go on. It's never hard for me to find fabrics I like. But I'm guessing you'd like to hear a bit more about...

THE GIVEAWAY!!!

I was over the moon last year when I saw the new organic Circa 50 line from Birch Fabrics (Cynthia's fabric company) by Monaluna. SO PERFECT for sewing for boys! Or anyone for that matter!

Fabricworm is giving away 2 YARDS of Circa 50 by Monaluna for Birch Fabrics + shipping (domestic or international) to the winner of this giveaway. The winner may pick any print(s) from Circa 50 as long as the total yardage adds up to 2 yards (so 8 fat quarters, four 1/2 yards, two single yards, OR one 2-yard cut of fabric). Make sense?

I will keep this giveaway open for FIVE DAYS and will close it on Monday night sometime around 8 PM EDST.

HOW TO ENTER (please read carefully)
  • Leave a comment on THIS post telling me what kind of sewer you are (or aren't). Do you quilt? Sew for your kids? Sew clothes for yourself? Have a project ready to start that you're excited about? Just hot glue scraps to wreaths? Wish you could sew? Tell me!
  • Only ONE comment entry per person; if you decide you need to change your comment, delete your first one and leave another one.
  • INCLUDE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS so we can get ahold of you if you win.
Thanks for entering!  I'll have more great giveaways coming soon so stick around...
