Today you are the Luckiest of Readers because Alewives Fabrics is giving away a stack of TEN gorgeous fat quarters! WOOT! Keep reading for more details...
Last summer at Weekend Sewing in Vermont we had a wonderful cocktail hour with wine and cheese on the most lovely grassy knoll overlooking the mountains. Heather had set up the Orla Kiely teepee and everyone sat and talked and took in the view. I still remember meeting Rhea of Alewives Fabrics; she had her adorable fiance Oliver in tow and they had driven down from Maine to hang out for the evening. She was also wearing this amazing tunic she had made from the Anna Maria Horner Museum Tunic tutorial and that gorgeous paneled voile and I remember thinking it looked even better in person than it did online. In addition to having mad style and good taste in fabrics, Rhea is one of the nicest people you can imagine and I was lucky enough to sit across from them later at dinner and hear about the store and their wedding plans, although I'm pretty sure I mostly just yammered her ear off. Actually, come to think of it, Heather was sitting with us too and did quite a bit of yammering herself. It was great! So I'm especially pleased today to be able to introduce you to Rhea and Alewives Fabrics, her lovely fabric shop in Maine and on the web.
A BIT ABOUT ALEWIVES
Alewives Fabrics has been in business for 35 years, but for the past 6 years has been owned by Barbara Neeson and her daughter Rhea Butler. Barbara is a former high school art teacher and Rhea is a former graphic designer. The fabrics in their shop reflect both their ages and attitudes! You can read more about the shop and its history here.Alewive's website is filled with warm colors and lots of deliciously yummy pictures of fabric, it's sure to become a place you love to go and hang out and "practice filling your cart" like I do. In addition to fabric they carry patterns and books and yarns (Amy Butler yarns, YUM!) and a whole slew of other stuff, so it's sure to keep you occupied for a good long time. Here are some of my favorites at Alewives right now:
and my favorite Hope Valley print from Denyse Schmidt

But funnily enough the Anna Maria Horner Innocent Crush in Sass Blue you are giving away here is my new Summer favourite - fresh and bright, like the sea in the Coromandel, New Zealand. aimee@lilypaddesigns.co.nz
