*CLOSED* falalalafabric giveaway: Indigo Icicles FQ Stack from Alewives!

UPDATED: THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED! THANKS EVERYONE FOR ENTERING!!!

Our winner is Megan who said: "I'm looking forward to going to NYC to my sister and her family for Christmas (and getting to see all the amazing lights in Manhattan)!"

Look for my email Megan! Congratulations!!!

Today you are the Luckiest of Readers because Alewives Fabrics is giving away a stack of TEN gorgeous fat quarters! WOOT! Keep reading for more details...

Last summer at Weekend Sewing in Vermont we had a wonderful cocktail hour with wine and cheese on the most lovely grassy knoll overlooking the mountains. Heather had set up the Orla Kiely teepee and everyone sat and talked and took in the view. I still remember meeting Rhea of Alewives Fabrics; she had her adorable fiance Oliver in tow and they had driven down from Maine to hang out for the evening. She was also wearing this amazing tunic she had made from the Anna Maria Horner Museum Tunic tutorial and that gorgeous paneled voile and I remember thinking it looked even better in person than it did online. In addition to having mad style and good taste in fabrics, Rhea is one of the nicest people you can imagine and I was lucky enough to sit across from them later at dinner and hear about the store and their wedding plans, although I'm pretty sure I mostly just yammered her ear off. Actually, come to think of it, Heather was sitting with us too and did quite a bit of yammering herself. It was great! So I'm especially pleased today to be able to introduce you to Rhea and Alewives Fabrics, her lovely fabric shop in Maine and on the web.

A BIT ABOUT ALEWIVES
Alewives Fabrics has been in business for 35 years, but for the past 6 years has been owned by Barbara Neeson and her daughter Rhea Butler. Barbara is a former high school art teacher and Rhea is a former graphic designer.  The fabrics in their shop reflect both their ages and attitudes! You can read more about the shop and its history here.

Alewive's website is filled with warm colors and lots of deliciously yummy pictures of fabric, it's sure to become a place you love to go and hang out and "practice filling your cart" like I do. In addition to fabric they carry patterns and books and yarns (Amy Butler yarns, YUM!) and a whole slew of other stuff, so it's sure to keep you occupied for a good long time. Here are some of my favorites at Alewives right now:

and my favorite Hope Valley print from Denyse Schmidt

GIVEAWAY DETAILS
So today Alewives Fabrics is pleased to be giving away an "Indigo Icicles" fat quarter set, which was pulled together specially for Made by Rae's readers!  The set contains 10 different fat quarters in cool shades of lavender, icy blue, royal purple, turquoise, and of course indigo blue.  The fabrics included in this bundle were designed by the likes of Amy Butler, William Morris, Denyse Schmidt, Anna Maria Horner and Liberty of London. All of the fat quarters are 100% cotton in quilting weight and would be perfect for any patchwork projects.  The giveaway includes shipping and can be shipped internationally.

Here's another peek at the fabrics on the bolt:

Lovely! Thanks so much to Alewives for offering such a fantastic prize! I LOVE these icy blue colors, so perfect for winter. And doesn't Rhea have a knack for picking out the most fabulous combinations?

  2. The thing I'm looking forward these days may sounds funny to you, but I gave birth 4 months ago to a beautiful little princess, and though I hardly sleep, I'm looking forward every morning for her to wake up and give me the first smile (trying to blackmail me to take her out of bed)...
    all the best to you,

  4. I'm looking forward to my daughter's first Christmas morning when she really understands what is going on, and has the ability to anticipate things.
She keeps telling me that it will be Christmas when it snows. I have been trying to explain that that is unlikely to be true here in Seattle, but she just shakes her head like I'm crazy.

But funnily enough the Anna Maria Horner Innocent Crush in Sass Blue you are giving away here is my new Summer favourite - fresh and bright, like the sea in the Coromandel, New Zealand. aimee@lilypaddesigns.co.nz

  20. I'm looking forward to the New Year because the "Quilts for Kids" finally have a group here in San Diego, CA. I'm busy cutting and selecting fabrics to be donated to this amazing group that will be giving quilts to the Rady's Childrens Hospital. When I found this organization I was brought to tears just thinking of how I will be able to be a part of making children have a bright smile on their faces and knowing that some one cares. 47. Well I have been looking forward to this weekend because my husband and in-laws took 4 of my 5 kiddos away for an early Christmas with more family. I'm staying home 'cause the baby doesn't sleep or travel well. However, currently the baby isn't being so accommodating with letting me go...I'm not sure I'll get anything done.

Either way it is nice to not have to cook constantly.
